Claudia Schubert, President and Chief Operating Officer at Diageo North America, will leave her role in September 2024 after a 22-year tenure with the company. Schubert will transition to corporate board service and advisory work.
Debra Crew, CEO of Diageo, expressed gratitude for Schubert’s significant contributions, stating, “Claudia has made an enormous contribution to Diageo. I want to thank Claudia for her dedication and extraordinary leadership, including her time helping steer North America through the unprecedented Covid pandemic and its aftermath.”
Schubert began her career at Diageo in 2002, working in the wine business in California. She moved to the spirits sector in 2009, becoming general manager of Continental Europe, Russia & Middle East in 2015. In 2018, she was appointed President for US Spirits and Canada, before joining the executive committee as President in 2022.
Sally Grimes, CEO of Diageo North America, praised Schubert’s impact, saying, “Through her more than two decades of service to Diageo, Claudia has made an indelible mark on our business, brands, and culture. Combining sharp business acumen with a strong strategic mindset, she has successfully driven performance and delivered bold, transformative plans. As a passionate champion of our brands and the hospitality industry, she has cultivated strong and trusted relationships, both internally and externally.”
Grimes also acknowledged Schubert’s mentorship, adding, “Claudia has been a trusted colleague and invaluable partner from my first day in this role. I am grateful for her wise counsel and dedication to the business. Please join me in thanking Claudia for her many contributions. Above all, the impact of her authentic leadership style, passion for our brands, and care for developing our people will be felt for a long time.”
Diageo credited Schubert as instrumental in acquiring and integrating prominent brands such as Aviation, 21Seeds, Mr Black, and Seedlip.
