Nomads: New Downtown Bar Aims to Elevate Colorado Springs’ Cocktail Scene

by Kaia

COLORADO SPRINGS – Nomads, the latest addition to Colorado Springs’ vibrant downtown scene, opened its doors on June 14, and has already made a significant impact on the city’s cocktail culture. The bar, founded by experienced hospitality professionals Cody Banks and Nikko Posada, seeks to bridge the gap between exceptional craft cocktails and outstanding service.

Banks and Posada, both veterans of the hospitality industry with over a decade of experience, envisioned Nomads as a space where craft cocktails and approachable, top-notch service go hand in hand. “Our goal is to create an environment where anyone—from the casual enthusiast to the seasoned bartender—can come in, ask questions, and enjoy themselves without any barriers,” Banks explained. “We’re here to make the experience accessible and enjoyable for everyone.”

The concept for Nomads was inspired by successful neighborhood cocktail bars such as Thunderbolt in Los Angeles and Milady’s in New York. Banks and Posada aimed to introduce a new standard in Colorado Springs, emphasizing both innovative cocktails and exceptional hospitality. At Nomads, bartenders also serve as servers, ensuring a seamless and engaging customer experience.

The bar occupies the former space of Colorful Colorado at The Garden, a seasonal pop-up. As part of Atlas Restaurant Group, which also operates downtown food hall CO.A.T.I. and Ola Juice Bar, Nomads represents a fresh approach to the local drinking scene.

Nomads’ name reflects the diverse population of Colorado Springs. “We chose ‘Nomads’ because the city is a melting pot of people from various backgrounds—whether military, students, or professionals. We wanted to create a place where everyone feels welcome and at ease,” Banks said.

The bar’s menu features a range of drinks crafted with both traditional and innovative ingredients. Highlights include the Chimi Gimm, a savory concoction of Argentinean gin, lime, and chimichurri, and the Snoop Stewart, a tropical frozen cocktail made with scotch, brandy, pineapple, coconut, and sage. Each cocktail is designed to offer a distinct journey for the palate, much like a carefully curated dish in a fine dining restaurant.

Looking ahead, Nomads plans to expand its offerings with a full food menu and is considering hosting special pop-up events featuring renowned bartenders from across the country. Currently, patrons can enjoy a selection of snacks, including charcuterie plates.

The bar’s design aims to evoke a relaxed, backyard atmosphere with ample outdoor seating, cornhole games, and fire pits, enhancing the summer experience. Banks emphasized, “We wanted to create a space that feels open and inviting, where people can take their time and enjoy themselves without feeling rushed or crowded.”

Banks and Posada encourage everyone to visit Nomads, regardless of their level of expertise in cocktails. “Whether you’re new to the world of craft cocktails or a seasoned expert, we have something for you,” Banks said. “Come by and have a great time.”

For those interested in exploring Colorado Springs’ newest cocktail destination, Nomads promises a welcoming environment and a unique drinking experience.
