Waitrose has announced the appointment of Nicola Jones as the new Trading Manager for its Beers, Wines, and Spirits (BWS) category. Jones, who has been with the retailer for 13 years, will begin her new role on October 13, as the team gears up for a series of product launches across the retailer’s own-label Blueprint, Loved & Found, and No.1 ranges.
Jones, who joined Waitrose through its graduate scheme, has spent the majority of her career within the company’s commercial and trading team. She has worked closely with the BWS and soft drinks teams as Category Strategy Manager, gaining extensive experience in the category.
Expressing her enthusiasm for the new role, Jones stated that she was “deeply passionate” about the BWS sector, particularly during a time of significant growth opportunities. “Over the past two years, I have had the privilege of collaborating closely with the Beers, Wines, Spirits, and Soft Drinks team as Category Strategy Manager, and I look forward to bringing my own knowledge and expertise to the team,” she said.
Pierpaolo Petrassi MW, Head of BWS at Waitrose, welcomed Jones’ appointment at a pivotal time for the business. “As we enter the busy Christmas period, we have some really exciting newness landing in Blueprint, Loved & Found wines, as well as our No.1 range. We are also working hard with our trusted suppliers to maintain the innovation and magic that we are renowned for,” Petrassi said.
He added that Jones’ “customer focus, passion for product, and in-depth knowledge of the business” would be invaluable as she leads the team of talented wine buyers at Waitrose.
Jones’ appointment signals a renewed focus on the retailer’s BWS offerings as Waitrose looks to expand its product range and capitalize on emerging consumer trends heading into the festive season.
