by Kaia

Auckland, New Zealand — Himatjit Kahlon is currently on trial in the Auckland High Court, facing serious allegations linked to methamphetamine distribution. Kahlon, a former team leader at Fonterra, is accused of providing Honey Bear Beers to Aiden Sagala, a deceased employee, as a reward for his performance at the company.

The case unfolded after Detective Sergeant Matthew Bunce arrested Kahlon on March 28, following an extensive investigation. During an interview presented in court, Kahlon claimed that a friend—who remains unnamed but has already pleaded guilty to drug charges—”fooled” him regarding the substances involved.

“I didn’t know this was meth, seriously,” Kahlon stated during the police interview. He admitted that he and his friend would consume alcohol at a warehouse in Manukau, which was later raided as part of Operation Lavendar. Authorities discovered 700 kilograms of methamphetamine at the location. Kahlon expressed his belief that his friend was simply preparing “solutions.”

Detective Bunce informed Kahlon that empty beer cans with crystalline residues had been recovered from the scene. “Your fingerprints were found on two of those beer cans… two of the cans that had been poured out had been used to make methamphetamine,” Bunce explained.

“I trusted him blindly,” Kahlon responded when asked about his relationship with his friend, emphasizing that he believed the individual came from a reputable family.

As the interrogation continued, Kahlon was questioned about his presence in the warehouse. He admitted to entering his friend’s room but maintained that he had not engaged in any illicit activities. Bunce countered, pointing out that Kahlon’s fingerprints had also been found on a grey bucket containing crystalline substances.

“Look at the crystals all over that bucket; it’s got your fingerprints. You just told me you did nothing. So why are your fingerprints on that bucket?” Bunce pressed.

Kahlon expressed shock at the situation, stating, “I am so shocked in these types of things, meth and all that.” The trial continues as the jury weighs the evidence presented against him.
