Advanced Sommelier Victoria O’Bryan to Open Electric Wines, Bringing Global Flavors to San Diego’s Vibrant Wine Scene

by Kaia

San Diego’s wine landscape is about to get a jolt of energy this spring with the opening of Electric Wines, a new boutique wine shop helmed by advanced sommelier Victoria O’Bryan. Known for her recent role as wine director at Addison, the city’s only three-Michelin-starred restaurant, O’Bryan is bringing her expertise and passion for global wines to the heart of San Diego. Located at 4241 Park Boulevard—a dynamic neighborhood straddling Hillcrest, North Park, and University Heights—Electric Wines promises to offer a unique and eclectic selection that sets it apart from the city’s existing wine shops.

While many local retailers focus on California or natural wines, O’Bryan aims to broaden the horizons of San Diego’s wine enthusiasts. “Electric will be a little bit more expansive in selection, focusing more on international styles,” she explains. The shop will feature a carefully curated collection of wines from iconic Old World regions like France, Spain, and Italy, as well as lesser-known gems from Portugal, Greece, Slovenia, Georgia, and even England. New World offerings will include not only California and Pacific Northwest wines but also selections from Mexico, South Africa, Chile, and New Zealand.

“I want to maximize value and quality while offering something new,” O’Bryan says. “It’ll be as far-reaching as possible.” The initial inventory will include around 200 wines, with plans to expand over time. In addition to retail sales, the shop will offer a small lounge area for on-site tastings, minimal food pairings, and eventually, educational events and tasting sessions.

For O’Bryan, who lives in North Park, the shop represents an opportunity to connect more directly with her community. After years of catering primarily to hotel guests at Addison, she’s eager to engage with local wine lovers. “The audience is very different,” she notes. “It’ll be a learning experience.”

The design of Electric Wines is still in progress, but O’Bryan promises an environment that lives up to the shop’s name. “I want something more exciting, more engaging,” she says. “A lot of wine shops are going very minimalist these days, but I’m leaning into a more colorful experience. The name Electric is about the general excitement that wine gives people—or at least used to. I’m trying to create a collection of very high-energy wines that spark something inside people.”

With its global focus, community-driven approach, and vibrant vision, Electric Wines is poised to become a standout destination for San Diego’s wine enthusiasts. Stay tuned for its grand opening this spring.
