Several variables come into play when determining how swiftly and effectively a beer can freeze, including alcohol content, storage container, and temperature. Typically, beers with higher alcohol content take longer to freeze, while lighter beers stored in glass bottles have a quicker freezing time. Beer held at -16°C can even freeze solid, as suggested by Silverking Brewing.

Heineken devised an ingenious technique, instantly freezing the beer at -35°C, ensuring that the beer is transformed into ice without compromising its distinctive flavor.

These Heineken Star Ice cubes have been ingeniously shaped into the iconic Heineken star and boast a remarkable feature – they are 20% colder than conventional ice cubes. Additionally, they exhibit a slower melting rate, lasting twice as long as ordinary ice cubes.

Fahmi Rajendra, the Marketing Director at Heineken Laos, expressed enthusiasm about this innovation, stating, “Inviting our local consumers in Laos to have good times with Heineken; the beer that is part of their world; while still enjoying their local beer drinking culture.”

Park Wannasiri, the Chief Creative Officer of Wunderman Thompson, shed light on the significance of this inventive venture, saying, “We take pride in fusing global brand excellence with the beauty of local traditions. The creation of Heineken Star Ice was a passionate journey that embraced the ‘Beer with Ice’ culture, reimagining tradition with an innovative freeze.”

With Heineken Star Ice, Heineken Laos and Wunderman Thompson have merged tradition and innovation to offer a refreshing twist on the beloved beer culture in Thailand and Laos, inviting consumers to savor the essence of Heineken in a whole new way.
