Wold Top Brewery, based in Wold Newton, has unveiled a new fruity St. Clements ale as part of the annual ‘Tryanuary’ campaign, encouraging beer enthusiasts to support independent breweries and pubs during one of the toughest financial months of the year.
The Tryanuary initiative, launched in 2015 by a group of volunteers, aims to promote and sustain the beer industry, particularly small and independent businesses, throughout January. This month often sees a decline in pub and brewery revenue following the festive season.
Kate Balchin of Wold Top Brewery explained, “Tryanuary is all about supporting and promoting the beer industry, especially small, independent breweries. The goal is to encourage people to explore new beers throughout the month. To celebrate, we’ve introduced St. Clements as a limited-edition beer for January.”
The new ale, with a modest alcohol content of 2.5% abv, is designed to offer a light, refreshing option for those seeking a post-Christmas reset. Brewed with Simcoe and Mosaic hops, St. Clements delivers vibrant tropical flavours of passion fruit and citrus, making it an ideal choice for beer lovers looking for a flavorful yet low-strength option.
St. Clements is now available at local pubs, independent retailers, and online via Wold Top Brewery’s website. The beer is vegan-friendly and gluten-free, catering to a wide range of dietary preferences.
Wold Top Brewery, renowned for its use of home-grown barley and water sourced from the farm’s borehole, produces a diverse range of cask, keg, and bottled beers. Their products are widely available across Yorkshire and beyond, solidifying their reputation as a key player in the UK’s independent brewing scene.
The brewery’s commitment to quality and sustainability was recently recognised with a 2024 York Press Business Award, further cementing its status as a leader in the industry.
