CHICAGO, Jan. 15, 2025 — For football fans, the Monday following the Big Game is often one of the hardest days of the year, with 60% of Americans and Canadians reporting they feel a “Case of the Mondays” after the game, according to a new survey from Talker Research. In response, Coors Light is turning that dreaded Monday into an opportunity for relaxation with a creative twist: Mondays Light, a limited-edition packaging designed to bring a chill to the day after the Big Game.
Mondays Light 12-packs, featuring an eye-catching design and the signature Rocky Mountain refreshment of Coors Light, will be available at retailers nationwide. The packaging aims to infuse a sense of humor and relaxation into one of the most challenging Mondays of the year.
Coincidentally, Coors Light itself experienced its own case of the Mondays when it released a series of ads on January 13 that humorously misspelled “refreshment” as “refershment”—a nod to the common blunders that tend to happen on a Monday.
“Let’s face it: the Monday after the Big Game takes ‘Case of the Mondays’ to a whole new level,” said Marcelo Pascoa, Vice President of Marketing at Coors Light. “So, we thought, why not turn that classic ‘Case of the Mondays’ into a literal case of Coors Light? Mondays Light is our way of reminding fans to ‘Choose Chill’ on one of the worst Mondays of the year.”
According to the Talker Research survey, Mondays are universally unpopular, with 76% of respondents expressing a preference for other days of the week. However, 41% pinpoint the Monday after the Big Game as particularly challenging. For many, the dread stems from staying up late (50%) and facing the return to work (46%) after an exhilarating game. Others feel the disappointment of the football season’s conclusion, with 36% lamenting the end of the season and 18% missing the thrill of watching their favorite teams.
Coors Light is no stranger to Big Game promotions, returning for the third consecutive year with a new 30-second commercial for the event. The ad, developed by Mischief @No Fixed Address, will be unveiled in the lead-up to the game.
In addition to the new packaging, Coors Light fans can enter to win a free case of Mondays Light through a special sweepstakes, launching after the Big Game.
The sweepstakes will begin February 9, 2025, and will run through February 10, 2025, offering fans a chance to score their own case of Coors Light in the limited-edition Mondays Light packaging.
