Sydney Beer Co, the Australian brewing company co-founded by former cricketer Brett Lee and actor Matt Nable, entered administration last Friday, according to filings with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).
The company has appointed Richard Stone and Brett Stephen Lord from RSM Australia Partners as its administrators. Dean Joseph Woodbridge and David Richard Catterall are listed as the company’s directors in the ASIC documents.
Sydney Beer Co joins a growing list of brewers facing financial difficulty, including Kaiju and Billson’s, both of which have also entered administration recently.
This news comes shortly after Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced that the government would freeze the indexation on draught beer excise for two years, a move aimed at alleviating pressure on the brewing industry.
