The Untappd Community Awards, now in its second year, has revealed the winners for 2024, spotlighting the best beers from breweries around the world. Based on millions of user ratings on the app, the awards recognize the top three beers in various substyles, with qualifying beers ranked by their average user score. To be eligible, a beer must have received at least 50 check-ins from unique community members during the calendar year.
This year’s awards saw 7,032 breweries from 101 regions globally, with a total of 26,004 beers being celebrated. In Australia, 126 local breweries earned gold, silver, and bronze medals across 123 different categories.
Bracket Brewing, based in Sydney, emerged as the standout performer, clinching the top three spots in the overall rankings for the best beers in Australia. Its beer Final Copy claimed the top position with an impressive rating of 4.55, followed closely by Triple Mot at 4.5 and Goldilocks Zone at 4.46.
Additionally, Bracket Brewing swept the podium in the IPA – Triple New England / Hazy category, winning gold, silver, and bronze with Final Copy, Triple Mot, and Goldilocks Zone, respectively.
Reflecting on the achievement, Bracket Brewing shared its excitement on Instagram, stating, “2024 has already fully been erased from our collective memory given it was a complete stress-fest of a year. In saying that, some little gems will be fondly remembered, one of these being your feedback about our beers. We’re glad you enjoyed them.”
The awards also highlighted a remarkable year for Blue Mountains’ Mountain Culture Brewery. After topping the GABS Hottest 100 people’s choice poll for the third consecutive year, Mountain Culture amassed the most medals of any Australian brewery in the Untappd Community Awards. With 15 golds, six silvers, and five bronzes, the brewery’s Imperial Logic earned the highest rating among Untappd users in 2024.
Other Australian independent breweries that stood out in the awards included Slow Lane Brewing (16 medals), One Drop Brewing Co. (15), Bacchus Brewing Co. (14), Range Brewing (14), Working Title Brew Co. (14), and Hawkers Beer (13), showing the continued success of indie breweries across the country.
