Charlotte’s food and beverage scene is about to welcome a new wine-focused venue from the creators of Customshop and Marina’s Tapas. Andres Kaifer and Alex Bridges, the minds behind these popular establishments, are bringing a new concept to the Queen City—a wine bar and retail shop at The Courtyard shopping center, located at 2400 Park Road. The 1,200-square-foot space, previously home to Mere’s, is set to open this fall.
“This is a concept we’ve always dreamed of, and when the space became available, it felt like the perfect opportunity to make it a reality,” said Kaifer in a statement.
The yet-to-be-named venue will offer an extensive selection of wines available by the glass or bottle, alongside a custom tap system. Guests can look forward to wine tastings and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere designed for both casual day visits and intimate evenings. The wine list will highlight wines from small producers and importers, with Bridges expressing a particular interest in introducing customers to unique regions and varietals.
“Opening a wine-focused spot has always been a dream of mine,” said Bridges. “It’s important to us to collaborate with the people behind the wines and help people discover new, exciting options.”
The interior design of the space will include both indoor and outdoor seating, featuring a bar area, banquet seating, and a large communal table. The venue is expected to offer a laid-back vibe during the day, with a more intimate experience in the evening.
While the menu is still in development, Kaifer confirmed that the wine bar will serve both lunch and dinner, including rotating sandwiches and a cheese and charcuterie program. The dinner offerings will be inspired by the flavors of Customshop but with a more streamlined approach.
Bridges, a wine expert, will play a pivotal role in shaping the wine-focused concept. Kaifer, who has worked alongside Bridges since 2019, said their partnership has allowed them to design a place where wine takes center stage, while the food menu offers flexibility and creativity.
“We want to create a spot where people can relax, hang out with friends, and enjoy good wine and food,” Kaifer said.
Further details about the concept will be revealed in the coming weeks, but for now, Charlotte wine enthusiasts have something exciting to look forward to this fall.
