Portland’s Function Taproom is continuing to redefine the craft beer scene with its innovative rotating brewery residency model, featuring two breweries each month. This unique concept has two locations in Portland, Oregon, where Function partners with different breweries to curate exclusive beer selections, merchandise, and events.
For the month of April, Function is showcasing two renowned Southern California breweries: Pure Project Brewing from San Diego and Radiant Beer Company from Anaheim. The residency is set to bring a variety of new, collaborative beers to the Portland beer scene. Notably, Pure Project and Radiant have teamed up to craft four new specialty beers: Limitless Light, a double IPA; Pouring Sunshine, a West Coast IPA; and two barrel-aged brews. These beers will be available both on draft at the pop-up events and in cans or bottles for takeout.
Casey Armstrong, owner of Function, highlighted the sense of community in the brewing industry, noting that the model’s evolution to hosting two breweries per month is a response to the deep collaboration between breweries like Pure Project and Radiant. Armstrong said, “The absolute collaboration that Pure Project and Radiant dove into across all facets of the residency is a testament to the idea that community outweighs competition.” The collaboration has excited Portland beer enthusiasts, as the breweries bring a taste of sunny SoCal to the Pacific Northwest.
Winslow Sawyer, co-founder and brewer of Pure Project, expressed his excitement about the partnership, stating, “We’ve always admired the vibrancy of Portland’s beer scene, and are extremely excited to bring our beers there through this partnership with Function.” He also praised the relationship with Radiant, calling them long-time friends.
