LOCKPORT, N.Y. — A new gathering spot has officially opened in Lockport, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony held on Wednesday for the Big Ditch Taproom, located on East Avenue.
The taproom, which opened its doors last month, is housed inside the city’s historic post office building. Local officials are hopeful that the new venue will serve as a catalyst for drawing more visitors to the area, particularly to the historic Erie Canal.
The establishment features a full bar, a beer hall, and seating for up to 140 patrons. It operates every day except Tuesdays, offering a vibrant atmosphere for locals and tourists alike.
In a March post on its website, Big Ditch expressed excitement about the opening, noting that while the development process took longer than expected, the team was committed to ensuring the space was fully ready to deliver exceptional beer, food, and service in a unique setting.
The Big Ditch Taproom is part of a broader effort to revitalize Lockport’s downtown area and attract more visitors to this historic canal city.
