The image in question showcases a pint of beer from an undisclosed brand, prominently displaying a charge of $17.80 on an Eftpos console. This photograph was shared on Reddit, accompanied by the caption: ‘$20 pints are just around the corner.’
The beer, offered at the Harbour View Hotel in The Rocks, included a 15 percent surcharge in its listed price. Without this additional fee, the beer’s original cost would have amounted to $15.13.
Many Australians voiced their astonishment and frustration over the beer’s price, describing it as a “tough swallow.” Some individuals shared their concerns about the affordability of regular drinking outings.
