Record Attendance at Bar Convent Brooklyn 2024

Bar Convent Brooklyn 2024 saw unprecedented attendance, with over half a million drink and spirit samples poured, marking a significant milestone for the annual drinks conference. Held in Industry City, the event attracted more than 5,300 attendees over two days, an 18% increase from the previous year.

The bustling conference featured 230 exhibitors from 48 countries and 47 US states. Attendees enjoyed 550,000 drink samples and participated in 52 educational sessions led by 132 speakers.

“We are thrilled with the success of Bar Convent Brooklyn 2024 and grateful to everyone who attended and contributed,” said event vice-president Jackie Williams. “The energy, creativity, and camaraderie displayed over these two days have been inspiring, and we look forward to seeing the future impact of the ideas and trends showcased here.”

Educational sessions, curated by a committee led by Speed Rack co-founder Lynette Marrero, highlighted global hospitality trends. Sessions like ‘Mixing Cultures: The Art of International Hospitality’ examined hospitality styles worldwide, emphasizing fruit distillates in Mexico, the rise of shochu in cocktails, and the importance of supporting small producers.

‘Unveiling Middle Eastern Hospitality’ explored the intersection of Middle Eastern culture with global hospitality, focusing on Persian traditions and their contributions to modern cocktail ingredients.

Workplace health and safety were also addressed in sessions such as ‘Mixing in Mental Health as a Bartender,’ which provided practical strategies for maintaining mental well-being in the fast-paced industry.

The inaugural Lunch & Learn session, led by Alison Anne of Restaurant Revolution, focused on leadership training with ‘How Do I Get Everyone to Care As Much As I Do?’, offering insights into effective and inclusive leadership strategies.

Throughout the event, industry professionals like Dale Degroff and Tony Abou-Ganim engaged in lively discussions and showcased new techniques, brands, and categories.

“What I love about Bar Convent Brooklyn is the diverse group of bartenders from all over the country coming together,” said Xavier Herit of Campari Group. “This year, I’ve seen far more education, new techniques, new brands, new categories. Bar Convent Brooklyn is growing every year and getting bigger and bigger.”

Planning is already underway for Bar Convent Brooklyn 2025, scheduled for June 10-11.
