Woodforde’s Brewery, known for its traditional cask ales in Norfolk, is embracing American-inspired styles under the guidance of new head brewer Aaron Taubman. Taubman, formerly of Purity Brewing Co., brings a wealth of experience from the US craft beer scene, which he aims to infuse into Woodforde’s offerings.
In an interview with the drinks business, Taubman shared his vision for expanding Woodforde’s range: “My brewing journey began in the USA, where I was immersed in the vibrant craft brewing culture. While I deeply appreciate British cask ale styles, I wanted to introduce something bold and innovative to Woodforde’s—a taste of the states that sparked the craft revolution.”
The newly introduced New World Brewing range includes the Tropical IPA and Hazy IPA, both heavily hopped with American varieties to deliver vibrant citrus flavors previously unexplored by the brewery. Taubman expressed enthusiasm for the positive feedback received so far and looks forward to expanding the reach of these beers nationwide.
In addition to these hop-forward ales, Woodforde’s has unveiled a new English lager, crafted with locally sourced ingredients to enhance its crisp and refreshing profile. Taubman highlighted the brewery’s commitment to leveraging the quality of UK-grown ingredients and celebrating the country’s rich brewing heritage with this latest creation.
Acknowledging potential concerns about shifting focus from traditional cask ales, Taubman reassured enthusiasts: “While we are proud of our British cask offering, we believe it’s equally important to innovate and cater to evolving tastes. Introducing these new beers is a natural progression for Woodforde’s.”
The introduction of these US-inspired beers and English lager signifies Woodforde’s dedication to honoring tradition while embracing innovation, promising beer enthusiasts a diverse and exciting drinking experience.
