In contrast, beer consumption rates in Asia are comparatively lower. Despite the presence of major breweries in the region, regular beer drinkers are less common. China and South Korea lead in Asia with 41%, followed by Thailand at 38%, Hong Kong at 36%, and Taiwan at 31%. Malaysia and Indonesia show even lower rates at 16% and 10%, respectively. This lower consumption is often linked to religious practices, as a significant portion of the population in these countries adheres to Islam, where alcohol consumption is prohibited.
