In the heart of downtown Excelsior Springs, Missouri, a new venture is creating a buzz. Huey’s Hidden Vault, a unique “Bartique,” has opened its doors at 109 E Broadway Ave. This innovative establishment combines the elegance of a boutique with the charm of a bar, offering a one-of-a-kind experience to locals and visitors alike.
Pam and Dale Myers, the visionary couple behind this venture, previously ran an upscale bed and breakfast in Hermann, Missouri, from 2005 until 2020. The decision to sell their business and relocate was driven by a fortuitous offer and a desire to be closer to their daughter and grandson in Kearney. Pam’s entrepreneurial spirit and Dale’s love for fine bourbons and cigars set the stage for Huey’s Hidden Vault. Dale, who continues to work for General Motors, adds his touch to the new chapter of their lives.
The concept of Huey’s Hidden Vault is a fusion of Pam’s business acumen and Dale’s passion for spirits. “Our daughter suggested starting a Bartique,” Pam explained, highlighting a trend gaining popularity on the coasts. A Bartique blends retail shopping with the enjoyment of a cocktail, creating a vibrant yet relaxed environment.
At Huey’s Hidden Vault, patrons can explore a carefully curated selection of upscale clothing and accessories while sipping on expertly crafted cocktails. The bar features an impressive range of fine bourbons, cigars, and other libations, creating a sophisticated shopping experience.
Huey’s Hidden Vault is more than just a place to shop and drink—it’s a community hub. Pam and Dale are committed to fostering local business growth and collaboration. “We want to be like sister businesses so we can all grow together,” Pam emphasized.
In addition to its own offerings, Huey’s encourages patrons to explore other local favorites. For a wine fix, Casa Da Vite is recommended, while Atlas Saloon offers a broader beer selection. This collaborative approach helps strengthen the local business ecosystem.
The vault’s unique atmosphere is also thanks to the expertise of Calvin Gatlin, the manager and bartender. With a background from The Elms Hotel and various other local venues, Calvin brings a wealth of experience to Huey’s Hidden Vault. His creativity shines through in special events, such as “vinyl night,” where guests can bring their favorite albums and enjoy cocktails in a nostalgic setting.
On September 14th, the vault will host a pop-up event featuring Mean Mule, a tequila distillery from Kansas City. Attendees can sample tequila and enjoy cocktails inspired by this popular spirit, showcasing the vault’s commitment to offering unique and engaging experiences.
The interior design of Huey’s Hidden Vault reflects Pam’s daughter’s artistic flair. From the logo to the event signage, her contributions have helped shape the vault’s aesthetic. “She’s been a huge help,” Pam said, acknowledging her daughter’s role in bringing their vision to life.
Currently, Huey’s Hidden Vault operates from 4 pm to “9-ish,” as Pam and Dale fine-tune their hours. Unlike a late-night party spot, the vault aims to provide a cozy, quiet space where patrons can relax, enjoy conversation, and savor their time.
With its innovative blend of boutique shopping and fine spirits, Huey’s Hidden Vault stands out as a must-visit destination in Excelsior Springs. Whether you’re in the mood to browse for stylish apparel or enjoy a finely crafted cocktail, Huey’s offers an experience that captures the essence of the community’s charm and creativity.
