PASO ROBLES, Calif – Riboli Family Wines, a family-owned winery with a rich history dating back to 1917, has announced the acquisition of Doctors Vineyard, located in the renowned Santa Lucia Highlands AVA of Monterey County. Previously owned by the Hahn Family, Doctors Vineyard is celebrated for its exceptional Pinot Noir, cultivated in one of the premier regions for this varietal.
Anthony Riboli, a fourth-generation winemaker, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, “Our family takes pride in crafting top-quality wines from premier vineyards. We are excited to continue expanding in California, reaffirming our commitment to high-quality standards and sustainability that define Riboli Family Wines.” He highlighted the potential of Doctors Vineyard, noting plans to explore unique clones of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, as well as alternative white varietals.
Doctors Vineyard is strategically situated on the terraces of the Santa Lucia mountain range, providing a commanding view of the Salinas River Valley. The vineyard benefits from warmer temperatures and higher winds compared to other local vineyards. Its unique layout, with wide row spacing of 11 feet by 7 feet, enhances sun exposure, while early morning fog burn-off contributes to optimal growing conditions. Rising from 300 feet to 700 feet in elevation, the east-facing slope features sandy loam soil, which, combined with the Pommard clone, is known to produce complex and flavorful wines.
