The second Davao Food and Wine Festival, scheduled for October 2024, aims to position Davao City as a premier culinary destination, showcasing unique food events and cuisines previously unseen in the area.
Spanning the entire month, the festival will feature 18 events across various venues, including SM Lanang, Ayala Malls Abreeza, Dusit Thani Davao, and Park Inn by Radisson Davao, among others.
Chef Choy Llido, head of operations at Mindanao Butchers, highlighted that this year’s festival will last three weeks and will include participation from four chefs from Lima, Peru, at the opening event.
Llido noted that some chefs from last year’s festival have decided to establish businesses in Davao, rather than taking their talents abroad. “The Department of Tourism has pledged support for local culinary talents looking to set up businesses here, which is a positive signal. We’ve been seeing many talents returning to Davao,” he said during the PEP Talks.
With an ambitious goal of attracting 8,000 participants this year, Llido is optimistic about surpassing last year’s turnout of 4,500 attendees.
