Martin House Brewing has introduced a limited edition mustard beer, available at the brewery and the State Fair, in collaboration with Fletcher’s. Shugg Cole, a representative from Martin House, shared that the inspiration for the mustard beer stemmed from their partnership during the Glizzy Fest, a celebration of corny dogs and hot dogs. The success of previous events prompted the two vendors to create a beer that pairs perfectly with corny dogs, leading to the birth of this unique brew.
Currently, the mustard beer can be found on draft at Martin House and select Fletcher’s locations at the fair. Cole explained that the vibrant yellow hue of the beer is achieved by adding one gallon of mustard for every twelve gallons of beer brewed, which also imparts a distinct flavor and aroma.
In addition to corny dogs, Cole suggested that foods typically enjoyed with mustard, such as cheeseburgers and tater tots, would complement the beer nicely. The mustard beer is based on Martin House’s popular Best Maid Sour Pickle Beer, with its sourness and vinegar notes enhancing the mustard flavor.
Looking ahead, Cole noted that Martin House has created nearly 1,000 beers, emphasizing their commitment to innovative flavors. “Nothing is off limits,” he said, assuring that every beer will taste as advertised.
