Actor Tom Holland has commemorated two years of sobriety by introducing his own line of non-alcoholic beers. The 28-year-old “Spider-Man” star revealed that his new brand, Bero, was designed to align with his personal values and lifestyle.
Holland’s Bero currently offers three distinct brews: Kingston Golden Pils, Edge Hill Hazy IPA, and Noon Wheat. Each name holds special significance to the actor, with several nods to his UK heritage. Kingston Golden Pils honors his hometown of Kingston, while Edge Hill is a tribute to his primary school. Noon Wheat is named after his dog, Noon.
Bero’s beverages are available for shipping to most U.S. states, according to a recent post on the brand’s Instagram account. Plans for UK distribution are in progress, with the company stating that British fans should be able to purchase Bero products by the end of the year.
In an interview with Forbes, Holland opened up about his journey to sobriety, admitting that his first year without alcohol was “really difficult.” He suggested that non-alcoholic options like Bero could have made the transition easier.
Holland reflected on his decision to quit drinking, acknowledging that he had developed an unhealthy relationship with alcohol. “I was the type of person that, when I’d had one beer, I couldn’t just have one beer,” he shared, adding that he had recognized the issue for some time.
His path to sobriety began in January 2022 when he participated in Dry January, a campaign encouraging people to abstain from alcohol for the first month of the year. After finding the experience challenging, Holland extended his sobriety into February and March. He then committed to not drinking until his birthday on June 1. However, he noticed the positive effects of sobriety, saying he “felt great” and has not consumed alcohol since.
“It was very difficult. It has been the hardest thing I’ve ever done, and arguably the greatest achievement of my life,” he said. “I’m very proud to be sober today.”
During a 2023 interview on Jay Shetty’s “On Purpose” podcast, Holland admitted that early on in his sobriety journey, he struggled to socialize without alcohol. “I felt like I couldn’t go to the pub and have a lime soda,” he explained. “I couldn’t go out for dinner. I was really, really struggling and I started to worry that maybe I had an alcohol problem.”
Since quitting alcohol, Holland has experienced significant benefits. He noted that he sleeps better and is more capable of managing challenges in his life. “Things that would go wrong on set that would normally set me off, I could take in my stride,” he said. “I had such better mental clarity. I felt healthier, I felt fitter.”
Holland’s new venture into non-alcoholic beverages not only reflects his personal journey but also offers a thoughtful alternative for those seeking alcohol-free options.
