Food enthusiasts in Miami are in for a treat as the When We Gather Food & Wine Festival, featuring top BIPOC chefs, makes its debut this weekend. The festival, organized by NBA star Dwyane Wade in collaboration with Frito-Lay, will take place on Saturday, October 26, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at The Urban, located at 1000 NW 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 33136.
This inaugural event coincides with the unveiling of Wade’s bronze statue at the Miami Heat arena, marking a celebratory occasion for the local community. Attendees, aged 21 and over, can look forward to an array of delectable dishes and exceptional wines from Wade Cellars, Wade’s California-based wine company, alongside beloved Frito-Lay snacks.
The festival will showcase culinary creations from a diverse lineup of renowned chefs, including:
- Chef Richard Ingraham (Wade’s personal chef)
- Akino West (Red Rooster Overtown)
- Eileen Andrade (Amelia’s 1931 and Finka Table & Tap)
- Giorgio Rapicavoli (Luca Osteria, Eating House, and Mayfair Grill)
- Andrew Gonzalez (Night Owl Cookies)
- Diego Ng and Alex Kuk (Temple Street Eatery)
- Derrick “Chef Teach” Turton (World Famous House of Mac)
“I’m excited to share that this will be the first food and wine festival to launch under my When We Gather series,” Wade expressed in a statement. “I’m looking forward to bringing this new and special experience to the Miami community.
