“Michigan’s multi-billion-dollar craft beverage industry supports thousands of well-paying jobs and boosts communities across our state,” Whitmer said in a statement. “This month, I encourage all Michiganders to raise a glass to the exceptional products crafted right here in Michigan. By doing so, we not only celebrate local talent but also contribute to the growth of our economy.”

The state’s craft beverage industry is deeply rooted in Michigan’s agricultural sector, benefiting from the state’s favorable climate for growing wine grapes, cider apples, hops, and grains used in brewing and distilling. Michigan’s diverse landscape – from rural farms to urban hubs – is reflected in the nearly every county, which boasts at least one craft beverage business.

Tim Boring, Director of the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and Chair of the Michigan Craft Beverage Council, emphasized the direct connection between local beverage production and the state’s agricultural economy. “When we choose locally made products, we’re often supporting Michigan’s farmers – the very source of the flavors in our craft beverages,” Boring explained. “Michigan’s craft beverage sector continues to expand and plays an essential role in strengthening our local economies.”

As part of the celebration, residents are encouraged to explore local craft breweries, cideries, and distilleries throughout November, with a special spotlight on Huron County’s unique offerings.
