Yet, despite the evident enthusiasm for professional growth, a noteworthy gap exists in the support provided. A mere 52% of industry professionals are guided towards resources that cater to their development, wellbeing, and mental health by their managers. Intriguingly, the research also unveils that 40% of respondents report a complete absence of discussions initiated by their managers concerning their development and wellbeing, reflecting potential impacts of economic challenges, Brexit, and the ongoing pandemic.

Family and friends emerge as the most common sources of assistance, with 52% of respondents indicating they would turn to them. Within the professional realm, peers play a central role as a primary source of support for 39% of participants, closely followed by managers.

Furthermore, the study delves into factors influencing industry retention. Impressively, 80% of those surveyed identified training opportunities as a compelling motivator to remain within the industry. Similarly, an equal percentage (80%) noted that improved employer support in the realm of wellbeing would significantly contribute to their decision to stay.

The survey underscores the industry’s eagerness for growth and development, while also underscoring the imperative role that comprehensive support systems play in nurturing a robust and sustainable workforce.
