The Fladgate Partnership, recognized for its prominent Port brands such as Taylor’s, Croft, and Fonseca, is venturing into the realm of table wines with its recent acquisition of key vineyards spanning Portugal. This strategic move marks the company’s foray into a new sector of the wine industry.
In a move that underscores its commitment to diversification, The Fladgate Partnership has taken a significant step by procuring approximately 200 hectares of vineyards in prominent wine regions, including Vinho Verde, Dão, and Bairrada. These vineyard acquisitions, obtained from Ideal Drinks, reflect the company’s strategic expansion plans, although the exact financial details remain undisclosed.
Among the notable vineyards obtained is the esteemed Quinta da Pedra, covering 53 hectares. Nestled in the heart of the Monção and Melgaço sub-regions, Quinta da Pedra holds prominence as one of Vinho Verde’s leading estates.
Another noteworthy addition to The Fladgate Partnership’s portfolio is the 24-hectare Paço de Palmeira vineyard, renowned for producing high-quality Loureiro wines within the Minho sub-region of Vinho Verde.
Moving beyond Vinho Verde, the company has secured a presence in the Dão region with the acquisition of Quinta de Bella, encompassing 50 hectares and boasting notable wine labels such as Dom Bella and Bella.
Not stopping there, The Fladgate Partnership has expanded its holdings to include two estates within the Bairrada DOC: Collinas São Lourenço spanning 56 hectares and Quinta da Curia, covering 14 hectares.
