Wine Down Bistro to Reopen After Temporary Closure, Owners Cite Operational Challenges

by Kaia

Wine Down Bistro in Ooltewah will reopen for full service on Monday, and its neighboring brunch spot, Neighbor of Wine Down, will resume operations this Saturday. The announcement comes just a week after the restaurant duo temporarily closed their doors due to “operational hardships” that owners Georgia and Marcus Garner said were not unlike the challenges faced by many small businesses.

In a phone interview, Marcus Garner explained that the decision to close was a response to unexpected difficulties, which led them to reassess their strategy and plan for a more robust future. “We went through a hard time last week, and we decided that we need to take a step back, rethink things, and come back with a stronger purpose and a stronger plan,” he said.

A sign posted on the restaurant’s door last Wednesday cited “unforeseen circumstances” as the reason for the closure, though the Garners did not provide specific details about the financial aspects of the business.

“We’ve been blessed in the past five days,” Marcus Garner continued. “I’m not going to go into exactly who did what for us, but I can tell you that if it wasn’t for the help, the prayer circles, our faith, and our determination to keep going, none of this would have been possible.”

Although the Garners declined to elaborate on any specific changes, they hinted that some modifications might be in store for both establishments in the coming year. These potential changes, they said, were already in the works before the temporary closure.

Both restaurants will resume normal operating hours upon reopening, and the Garners expressed optimism for the future as they look ahead to the next chapter for Wine Down Bistro and Neighbor of Wine Down.
