November 21, 2024 – Star Wine List, the internationally recognized guide to exceptional wine bars and restaurants, has unveiled its latest city guide—this time focusing on Prague, a rising star in the global wine scene. Curated by Prague’s official ambassador, Gabriel Riel-Salvatore, the guide highlights 15 top wine destinations in the Czech capital, including acclaimed venues like Le Terroir, 420, and V Zátiší.
Since the Velvet Revolution of 1989, which returned vineyards to private ownership, Czech wines have gained international recognition. However, due to limited production, they remain relatively undiscovered outside of the region. “Czech wines have earned a place on the global stage, yet they still remain hidden gems, appreciated locally,” said Riel-Salvatore. “Prague, with its dynamic restaurant culture, has become a wine destination in its own right, offering a diverse range of wines from both Czech producers and international selections.”
The newly launched guide is designed to appeal to wine enthusiasts of all levels, from casual drinkers to seasoned connoisseurs. “Prague is one of the most charming and visited cities in the world. While I’ve always enjoyed Czech pilsner, it’s been harder to find top-notch wine venues. Thanks to Gabriel’s expertise, we can now experience Prague’s rich wine culture alongside its legendary beer scene,” said Krister Bengtsson, founder and publisher of Star Wine List.
