Portland, OR — Skip the Black Friday crowds and head to Uptown Beer Co. for its eighth annual Black Saturday Dark Beer Festival, taking place on November 30, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Held in Portland’s Raleigh-Hills neighborhood, just south of Beaverton, the festival offers beer aficionados a rare opportunity to taste an exclusive selection of dark, barrel-aged beers from some of the region’s most renowned breweries.
The event, which has become a highlight on Uptown Beer Co.’s calendar, will feature over 20 unique dark beers, with a focus on barrel-aged brews. Participating breweries include Alesong, Firestone Walker, Epic, Ex Novo, Deschutes, Fort George, Crux, pFriem, Block15, Goose Island, Fremont, and others. Attendees will be able to taste beers that have been specially aged in kegs — a distinctive process that allows flavors to evolve over time.
“It’s something really special,” said Josh Johnson, Managing Partner at Uptown Beer Co. and founder of Black Saturday. “Beer aged in bottles is common, but keg-aging is much rarer. This festival gives us a chance to see how beers mature from year to year, offering a truly unique tasting experience.”
Robert Pouder, Uptown’s Beer Buyer and Manager, echoed Johnson’s excitement. “What makes Black Saturday stand out is the ability to return each year and try these incredible beers. I’m especially looking forward to tasting new releases like the Little Beast and Moksa collaboration, Scylla’s Revenge, and 2024’s Block 15 Super Nebula.”
In addition to the impressive beer lineup, attendees will receive a commemorative goblet, a festival sticker, and five tastings for $30. Tickets can be purchased at www.uptownbeer.co. The event will also feature Uptown’s exclusive “Beer Jail,” where rare and aged bottles will be available for purchase on the day of the festival only. Local food truck MidCity SmashedBurgers, named one of Oregonian’s Reader’s Choice Top 5 Burgers, will be serving up their signature cheeseburgers to complement the brews.
Please note that Black Saturday is a 21+ event.
