Two individuals have been apprehended on suspicion of arson linked to the destructive fire that engulfed the renowned Crooked House pub.
Situated near Dudley, this cherished establishment, often referred to as “Britain’s wonkiest” inn, had lingered on the market for several months before finally being acquired by a private buyer. Speculation abounded that the new owner had no intentions of reopening the pub.
Shortly after this transaction, the historic site was tragically consumed by flames in early August. A noteworthy development was the rapid demolition of the pub by heavy machinery within a mere 48 hours after the fire’s outbreak, raising suspicions among law enforcement authorities.
Staffordshire Police have confirmed the apprehension of two suspects in connection to the incident. The detainees include a 66-year-old man from Dudley and a 33-year-old man hailing from Milton Keynes. Both individuals are presently under police custody, having been arrested on suspicion of arson.
