Wine enthusiasts and bibliophiles alike have an exciting opportunity to indulge in a unique experience at the Olean Public Library’s upcoming event, “Read Between the Wines.” Scheduled for Friday, September 8, the event promises an evening of wine tasting, delectable cuisine, live musical entertainment by Alex Cole, and a chance to participate in a basket raffle.
Yet, beyond the delightful experience offered, attendees will contribute to a meaningful cause by supporting the Friends of the Library. Their participation will help furnish the library with resources that enrich long-term engagement and enjoyment.
Michelle La Voie, the library director, highlighted the often overlooked impact of the annual “book” endowment gift. These substantial donations, typically amounting to $10,000 or more, provide the library with the means to procure a diverse range of circulating materials, extending beyond traditional print books.
These endowment funds enable the acquisition of various formats, including e-books, e-audio books, books on CD, DVDs, and music CDs. La Voie emphasized that these purchases cater to the preferences of all patrons, encompassing picture books and Playaways for children, young adult fiction and graphic novels for teens, and nonfiction for readers of all ages.
The fifth edition of the Read Between the Wines event is scheduled to take place at the Olean Public Library, situated at 134 N. 2nd St. The festivities will commence from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Friday, September 8. The library will temporarily close its doors at 5 p.m. in preparation for the event setup.
