Brandy Garofalo Promoted to Food Access Director at New Bethany

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – New Bethany, a local secular nonprofit dedicated to aiding individuals facing poverty, food insecurity, and homelessness, has announced the elevation of Brandy Garofalo to the position of Food Access Director. In her new role, Garofalo will take charge of managing the operations of the Southside Drop-In Center, the Trinity Northside Drop-In Center, the Choice Food Pantry, and their respective staff.

Marc Rittle, Executive Director of New Bethany, praised Garofalo’s skills and contributions over her 23 years of experience managing the kitchen and food pantry. He highlighted her ability to establish trust and rapport with neighbors, volunteers, and staff, enabling the organization to deliver exceptional care to underserved community members. Rittle emphasized the significance of having Garofalo lead the food access team at New Bethany.

As Food Access Director, Garofalo’s responsibilities encompass supervising the nonprofit’s food access initiatives, staff, and daily meal preparation. Her role extends to maintaining communication with volunteers, trainees, visitors, and partner agencies within the Lehigh Valley serving similar populations, referring guests as necessary. Moreover, she will ensure accurate record-keeping, adherence to grant-related standards, and reporting obligations to entities such as the Second Harvest Food Bank of the Lehigh Valley and Northeast Pennsylvania (SHFB), the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), and the Restaurant Association.

Garofalo expressed her honor in assuming the role of Food Access Director at New Bethany, articulating her eagerness to contribute to her community.
