Entrepreneur Kim Cameron, the visionary behind Gin Bothy established in 2015, has often been playfully dubbed an “accidental” gin-maker. Her journey commenced with triumph in a jam competition, prompting her to establish a jam-making enterprise. The creative idea of her mother, Sheelagh, to infuse the residual fruit and juice into gin led to the birth of Gin Bothy.
The move to new premises in Forfar, formerly occupied by agricultural and construction machinery business Agricar, heralds further growth for the company. This strategic decision brings all of Kim Cameron’s Bothy brands together and paves the way for the introduction of a “larder” shop later in the year. Notably, this expansion will result in the creation of three new job positions.
The new site will serve as a hub for increased production of Gin Bothy, Hipflask Spirits, and the Jam Bothy products. The business intends to continue operating its shop and Bothy visitor experience in Glamis.
A spokesperson for Bothy Trading shared that the Forfar site has already commenced jam production, with the installation of a new jam cooker substantially augmenting production capacity for preserves. This development follows Kim Cameron’s successful relaunch of the Jam Bothy range of preserves earlier this year.
Kim Cameron’s ventures continue to flourish, demonstrating the potential for innovation and growth even from unexpected beginnings.
