Boston Beer Company Launches Cannabis-Infused Beverage Line in Ontario

The Boston Beer Company has unveiled Emerald Hour, a new line of non-alcoholic, rosin-infused cannabis drinks in Ontario, Canada. The beverages, which come in 355-milliliter cans, contain 10 milligrams of THC and are crafted using regionally sourced ingredients.

Paul Weaver, director and head of cannabis at Boston Beer, emphasized that the 10mg THC content per can is significant, noting that these drinks are not intended for those unfamiliar with cannabis consumption.

Boston Beer, widely known for its flagship Samuel Adams beer, as well as Truly Hard Seltzer and Twisted Tea, has also ventured into the cannabis-infused drink market. In 2022, the company launched TeaPot, a cannabis-infused iced tea, in Canada.

According to Statistics Canada, cannabis-infused beverages are particularly popular in Ontario, where sales reached approximately CAD $36.4 million between 2022 and 2023—three times higher than in British Columbia, the second-largest market for such products. Overall, cannabis-infused beverage sales in Canada neared CAD $75 million during the same period.

In comparison, cannabis-infused beverage sales in the United States were significantly higher, totaling $203.6 million in 2022, according to Statista data.
