The transition to The Leprechaun’s Lab marks an exciting chapter for Patrick Root and his wife, Kaycee Root, who took ownership of the brewery in late June. The couple, originally hailing from Laramie, Wyoming, decided to relocate to Wichita two years ago, driven by their desire to be closer to family. Their journey into the world of brewing began with Patrick’s humble beginnings as a homebrewer.
Patrick’s brewing skills quickly earned him a reputation in the industry, eventually landing him a position at Altitude Chophouse & Brewing in Laramie. For an impressive 12 years, he honed his craft there, culminating in a four-year stint as the head brewer. It was during this time that Patrick’s talents received widespread recognition, as he garnered numerous prestigious awards for his beers.
His achievements included a coveted gold medal at the esteemed World Beer Cup and an impressive haul of two gold medals and a bronze at the renowned Great American Beer Festival.
