Geneva, December 30, 2024 – An online auction hosted by Baghera/Wines on December 23, 2024, saw record-breaking results as two rare magnums sourced by the legendary Burgundy producer Henri Jayer sold for far above their pre-sale estimates. The auction, aptly titled “North-East: A Christmas Diptych of Rare Henri Jayer Magnums,” made history as the 1978 Richebourg magnum fetched CHF 109,800, setting a new benchmark for the most expensive magnum sold in 2024. The 1993 Cros Parantoux magnum also achieved a remarkable price of CHF 67,100.
“The sale of these magnums represents an exceptional moment in the fine wine world,” said Michael Ganne, Founder of Baghera/Wines. “Sourced directly from Henri Jayer, these bottles carry an undeniable provenance. Their rarity and historical significance make them a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for collectors. With their impeccable condition, it’s unlikely we will see such bottles at auction again anytime soon. Baghera/Wines is proud to offer connoisseurs access to these extraordinary pieces of wine history.”
Both magnums, previously unavailable on the market, were sourced directly by Henri Jayer, ensuring their authenticity and adding to their allure. Their pristine condition and limited availability made them highly coveted among collectors, and the auction results reflect their unique status in the world of fine wine.
Now sold, the bottles are expected to remain a rare commodity, with future opportunities to acquire such esteemed wines unlikely in the near future.
