The Amsterdam Wine Festival is set to undergo a major transformation for its 2025 edition. In a statement shared with Vinetur, organizers revealed that the event will move to the Central Markthal, a historic venue renowned for its rich culinary heritage, in the heart of Amsterdam. The festival will take place over two consecutive weekends, from March 28 to 30 and April 4 to 6, and is expected to offer an expanded array of wine experiences, drawing on the unique characteristics of the Southern Hemisphere’s wine regions.
This venue change comes as a result of ongoing renovations at the festival’s previous location, the Gashouder. The move provides an opportunity to enhance the festival’s scope, allowing for a larger selection of wines and the potential to attract an even greater number of wine enthusiasts. The event will feature a diverse range of wines from countries such as Argentina, Chile, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Peru, and Brazil. Attendees can look forward to tastings of Argentina’s Malbecs, Chile’s Carmenères, New Zealand’s Sauvignon Blancs, and Australia’s Shiraz, along with lesser-known selections from Peru and innovative sparkling wines from Brazil.
The 2025 edition will run for extended hours, giving guests more time to explore the festival. Doors will open on Fridays from 3:00 PM to 1:00 AM, and on Saturdays and Sundays, the event will operate from 1:00 PM to 1:00 AM, with Sunday hours concluding at 10:00 PM. Admission is free for children under 12, but alcohol consumption will be restricted to those aged 18 and over.
In an effort to streamline transactions and enhance convenience, the festival will implement a cashless payment system, accepting debit and credit cards for purchases. Organizers also encourage groups and companies to reserve personalized spaces in advance. For health and safety reasons, pets will not be allowed, with exceptions made only for service animals.
The Central Markthal’s stunning historic setting is expected to provide a unique backdrop for the celebration of Southern Hemisphere wines and cultures. Wineries participating in the event will bring their finest vintages, ensuring a memorable tasting experience for all attendees. Early-bird tickets are already available at promotional prices, offering a perfect opportunity for last-minute holiday gifts.
The relocation to the Central Markthal highlights the festival’s dedication to delivering high-quality experiences while embracing the venue’s rich gastronomic history. With its focus on innovation and expanding wine offerings, the 2025 Amsterdam Wine Festival is poised to be a standout event for wine lovers in the city.
