Seaton Beer and District Branch RNLI volunteers have wrapped up a busy year of fundraising efforts, with a series of successful events supporting the lifesaving charity. The group’s activities included a coffee morning and art sale at Axmouth Village Hall on November 30, followed by participation in the Colyton Christmas Fair and Beer Festive Craft Fair in early December, where they sold RNLI Christmas cards and gifts.
On December 8, the volunteers attended the Axe Yacht Club annual general meeting to present a certificate of thanks for a £500 donation to their branch. The club also contributed £5,644.89 to the Lyme Regis Lifeboat Station. Additional donations were received following the Art in the Attic Art Sale held in October at Beer Sailing Club.
The fundraising momentum continued on December 21 with the Tesco Seaton Christmas Collection. Twelve volunteers worked in shifts throughout the day, raising £644.19 in cash donations and an additional £29 through card payments.
Looking ahead, the group will start 2025 with a coffee morning at Beer Sailing Club on January 22 at 10 a.m. This will be followed by the RNLI Table Top Sale, a long-standing tradition, on January 25. The sale, open to sellers from 8 a.m. and buyers from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., will feature craft stalls, refreshments, a raffle, and a card tombola. Table hire is priced at £6 for one or £10 for two.
Further events planned for the year include the branch’s annual general meeting in early March, the Grizzly Race Drink Station at Beer Head Caravan Site on March 9, and the reopening of their shop at Jubilee Gardens in spring. The group will also participate in the RNLI Mayday Appeal and host the Beer Lifeboat Weekend on July 5 and 6. The annual sponsored walk will take place in October.
The branch expressed heartfelt gratitude to all supporters during the RNLI’s 200th Anniversary Year in 2024 and is eager to continue its mission in 2025. Through their tireless efforts, Seaton Beer and District Branch RNLI volunteers remain vital to the RNLI’s goal of saving lives at sea, ensuring the charity can meet its operational needs and maintain its lifesaving services.
