Alex Wenzel, co-owner of Lion’s Tail Brewing Company, appeared on The Upswing with host Jeff Sherman to discuss the brewery’s expanding reach and its strategy to stand out in a competitive market. The brewery, with locations in Neenah and Wauwatosa, has gained attention for offering beers and other drinks with lower alcohol content, a growing trend in the beverage industry.
“You just keep trying things and trying to reach different people and see what works,” Wenzel shared with Sherman, emphasizing the importance of innovation and adaptability in their approach to growth.
Wenzel also highlighted the role of their banking partner, Horicon Bank, in financing the expansion of their Wauwatosa location. Horicon Bank, which has supported the brewery’s success, is also the presenting sponsor of The Upswing.
In addition to its unique beer offerings, Lion’s Tail Brewing has set itself apart by hosting events like yoga, which attract a diverse audience and provide new ways for customers to engage with the brewery. These types of events are becoming more common among local businesses as they aim to create community connections.
Later in the program, Milwaukee Business Journal senior reporter Rich Kirchen shared an update on the upcoming venue “The Argo,” which will replace the former Fox-Bay Cinema in Whitefish Bay. Kirchen mentioned that, like Lion’s Tail, The Argo would also feature beer yoga events, adding to the growing trend of combining fitness and craft beer experiences.
