Verdant Brewery has announced a new residency at Craft Metropolis in Brixton, marking a significant expansion of its presence in London. The initiative, which begins on Saturday, February 22, aims to create a vibrant community hub offering a wide range of exclusive Verdant beers, alongside a variety of local cultural events.
Paul McTernan, Verdant’s London and South sales manager, explained that the decision to set up shop in Brixton was driven by the brewery’s desire to establish a unique venue for beer enthusiasts, rather than competing in the already crowded drinking scene in central London. “We wanted to create a real community destination venue, hosting a variety of locally organized cultural events,” McTernan said.
The idea for the residency emerged after Verdant noticed a high demand from beer fans for a dedicated space to enjoy the brewery’s freshest kegs and cans immediately following their release. “The volume of requests has been so high that it hasn’t gone unnoticed at Verdant HQ,” McTernan added. “We’ve been exploring options in the capital for some time.”
The partnership between Verdant and Craft Metropolis was sparked by a meeting between McTernan and Oli Meade, the owner of Craft Metropolis and a long-time Verdant supporter. Meade, who operates an online webshop and two bars in London, helped lay the groundwork for the residency in Brixton.
During the residency, at least six taps will serve fresh Verdant kegs and casks, with new exclusives released every Friday. Verdant will also showcase small-batch and limited-edition beers, some of which will be exclusive to the Verdant Taproom and Craft Metropolis. Customers will be able to purchase exclusive Verdant merchandise and cans to take home. Additionally, in-person launch events and Friday beer tastings are set to be part of the ongoing experience.
McTernan expressed his excitement about the collaboration, noting that it offers an opportunity to create something distinct in the London beer scene. “Craft Metropolis Brixton is full of character and good vibes. Together, we can create an amazing community space for people to gather while enjoying the freshest and best Verdant beers available,” he said.
The Verdant residency at Craft Metropolis will run for a minimum of six months, located at Arch 263, 241 Coldharbour Lane, London SW9 8RR. To celebrate the opening, Craft Metropolis Brixton will be pouring Verdant’s new PuTTTy 10% ABV Triple IPA, along with six other beers from the brewery.
