MoCo Lite, the collaboration between The MoCoShow and Lone Oak Brewing Company, has earned top honors as the best light beer in the United States, according to Wine Enthusiast. This recognition, first granted in 2023, continues to hold true today.
In its article titled The Best Light Beer to Drink Right Now, Wine Enthusiast awarded MoCo Lite an impressive score of 91, the highest among all light beers. Describing the beer, the publication notes, “There’s a joke that light beer is nearly water but not as flavorful. This pale straw yellow lager pours clear as a bell with a robust head and delivers on soft grain-forward refreshment. Drink all day without palate fatigue.”
Wine Enthusiast, a trusted source for wine, beer, and spirits for over 40 years, highlights the appeal of light beers, particularly lagers, due to their lower calorie content and reduced alcohol-by-volume (ABV). This was precisely the goal of Alex Tsironis, founder of The MoCoShow, and the team at Lone Oak Brewing when creating MoCo Lite. Former Lone Oak Farm brewmaster Kevin Hilton, a Good Counsel graduate, crafted the beer with a focus on flavor, ensuring it stands out as one of the most distinctive light beers on the market.
Lone Oak Brewing’s founders, Chris and Charlie Miller, both graduates of Magruder High School, teamed up with Gaithersburg-based co-owners Ralph and Ryan Mollet to establish the brewery. Together, they have been providing exceptional brews and creating memorable experiences for over three years. The MoCo Lite can label was designed by Matt Corrado, a MoCo native and Good Counsel alumnus, who is also the Creative Director at Bright Light Media in Kensington. Tsironis, a Watkins Mill High School graduate, founded The MoCoShow.
