A new craft beer bar could soon be opening in Fulford, with plans currently under review by York Council. Brewhemian Hopsody Ltd has proposed transforming the Lodge Cottage Farm shop, located on Broadway, into a vibrant bar and shop specializing in craft beers and other alcoholic beverages.
According to the application, the proposed venue is expected to foster local growth, create jobs, and boost the community’s economy. Additionally, the owners plan to implement noise-reducing measures to prevent any disturbances to nearby residents. This proposal comes after it was announced that the Lodge Cottage Farm shop will close its doors on April 1.
The new craft beer bar will occupy the front portion of the current shop, incorporating both a seating area and retail space. Plans also include a beer garden at the rear of the building, which will be enclosed by a 2-meter-high fence to ensure the privacy of neighboring homes. Other amenities, such as toilets for customers and glass washing facilities, are also part of the design.
In the future, the owners also intend to serve food, with proposed opening hours from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. The beer garden is set to close by 9:30 p.m. to minimize any noise disruptions to the local area. The plans further state that Brewhemian Hopsody has been in discussions with the council and North Yorkshire Police Licensing teams regarding the venue’s full premises license application.
The proposal emphasizes the company’s commitment to working closely with the local community to address concerns and ensure the operation of the bar aligns with the character of the area. The owners also pledge to maintain respectful relations with neighbors, especially during closing hours.
