Bale Breaker Brewing’s Frenz series, known for its exciting partnerships with top-tier breweries, is set to return with a fresh lineup for 2025. Since its inception in 2016, the Yakima-based brewery has teamed up with renowned names like Sierra Nevada Brewing and Russian River Brewing, as well as local favorites such as Barley Brown’s Brewery and Breakside Brewing. This year, the brewery is narrowing its focus to celebrate the best of the Northwest with regional collaborations.
Among the first to join the 2025 Frenz series are some of Washington’s most beloved breweries, including Icicle Brewing, Holy Mountain Brewing, and Reuben’s Brews. The series kicks off with a West Coast IPA created in partnership with Icicle Brewing, which will be released on Friday, March 7th, at Bale Breaker’s taprooms in Yakima and Ballard.
The release parties will serve as the initial launch of the beer, followed by full distribution across Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. Enthusiasts can track down the IPA using Bale Breaker’s online beer finder, and Washington-based customers can order the beer directly from the brewery’s online store.
Bale Breaker Brewing’s announcement emphasizes the unique nature of this collaboration: “What goes together better than a T-Rex and Bigfoot? Well, probably a lot of things, including Bale Breaker and Icicle Brewing Company!” The West Coast IPA, brewed with a mix of Mosaic® Cryo, Dynaboost™, Simcoe®, Krush™, and Columbus hops, is described as a fun and flavorful collaboration showcasing the unexpected chemistry between the two breweries.
Kevin Quinn, co-owner of Bale Breaker Brewing, shared that the goal for this year’s Frenz series is to emphasize the camaraderie between the breweries. “We felt like just having fun with our Frenz series this year by choosing only one brewery for each release to really emphasize that friendship,” Quinn said. “Washington is home to so many great breweries, and we want to make beer with them all, so we decided to focus on our home state.”
Quinn also highlighted the fun side of the project, particularly in terms of the can artwork. The March release features a playful design inspired by a humorous tracksuit found by the Icicle Brewing team during their brew day. This whimsical T-Rex and Bigfoot-themed design adds a lighthearted touch to the collaboration, embodying the spirit of fun and friendship that defines the Frenz series.
