Southern Tier Brewing Company and Perry’s Ice Cream are teaming up once again to create a unique craft beer inspired by Perry’s latest flavor: Cherry Pie Ice Cream. The partnership, now in its third year, combines the expertise of two regional giants in an innovative dessert-inspired brew.
Southern Tier Brewing, founded in 2002 in Lakewood, New York, is known for its bold, flavorful beers like the fan-favorite Pumking. The company also operates Southern Tier Distilling Company, which produces ready-to-drink canned cocktails and a range of high-proof spirits, including bourbon, whiskey, vodka, and gin.
Perry’s Ice Cream, established in 1918 in Akron, New York, is the region’s leading ice cream brand. As a fourth-generation, family-owned business, Perry’s has been a staple of Upstate New York for over a century.
This year’s limited-edition creation, the Cherry Pie Imperial Ale, builds upon the success of previous collaborations featuring Perry’s Vanilla Scoop and Orange Twist flavors. The new beer is a bold, 8.6% ABV imperial ale, crafted to mirror the flavors of Perry’s Cherry Pie Ice Cream, which combines cherry ice cream, cherries, and crunchy graham crackers. The Cherry Pie Imperial Ale boasts tart cherry, sweet vanilla, and biscuit flavors with a smooth finish.
“We’re excited to introduce Cherry Pie Imperial Ale, which showcases both brands’ shared commitment to innovation,” said Brandon Hank, Brand Manager at Southern Tier Brewing. “It’s a fun, creative evolution from last year’s Orange Twist.”
The partnership aims to highlight the creativity of both brands, with Nichole Buryta, Senior Brand Manager at Perry’s, noting that the new brew brings the Cherry Pie Ice Cream to life in a whole new format. The beer is currently available on tap at Southern Tier’s five taproom locations and will be arriving at retailers in New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and other Southern Tier markets throughout March.
Southern Tier Brewing joined the Artisanal Brewing Company family in 2014, expanding its reach alongside other craft brands such as Victory Brewing Company, Sixpoint Brewery, and Bold Rock Hard Cider. Southern Tier’s taprooms are located in Lakewood, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Charlotte, offering a distinctive craft beer experience for visitors.
