The Barcelona Beer Festival is set to return from April 11-13, offering a vast selection of craft beer to satisfy the tastes of enthusiasts from around the globe.
In recent years, the festival has grown into one of Southern Europe’s most significant gatherings for craft beer lovers and professionals, cementing its reputation as a leading event in the industry.
This year’s festival will feature a unique collaboration with Barrel & Flow Fest, an influential American festival that emphasizes creativity, inclusivity, and the celebration of Black-owned breweries.
Barrel & Flow is not only a beer festival but also a platform that highlights the contributions of the Black community in the brewing industry. Held annually in Pittsburgh, the festival combines craft beer with music and art, advocating for diversity and equity in a sector that has traditionally lacked Black representation.
Recognized for its cultural significance, Barrel & Flow Fest was named the best beer festival in the United States by USA Today. As part of its collaboration with the Barcelona Beer Festival, Barrel & Flow will bring a curated selection of five Black-owned breweries to Barcelona, showcasing the diversity and quality of these craft beer innovators.
The participating breweries include Rhythm Brewing Co., which blends the spirit of swing and jazz with high-quality lagers; Soul Mega, a Washington, D.C.-based brewery committed to redefining craft beer with an inclusive perspective; Cajun Fire Brewing Company, known for its Creole-inspired beers that integrate Southern culinary traditions; Two Locals Brewing Company, one of Philadelphia’s first African-American breweries; and DOPE Cider House, offering a unique approach with creative, natural ciders.
This collaboration offers attendees a rare opportunity to experience these trailblazing breweries for the first time in Europe while also learning how beer festivals can act as transformative spaces for both the industry and society at large.
