Frugalpac’s Product Director, JP Grogan, highlighted the eco-credentials of their innovation, stating, “The overall carbon footprint is much, much lower on a paper bottle than it is on the equivalent glass bottle. We believe it’s up to six times lower.”
The groundbreaking Frugalpac bottle boasts an astonishingly light weight of less than 3 ounces, a fraction of the heft of a conventional glass bottle, resulting in substantial reductions in fuel consumption and emissions during transportation. Furthermore, since each bottle begins its journey in a flat-packed state, the transportation efficiency is amplified, allowing more bottles to be shipped simultaneously.
Located in Ipswich, southern England, the Frugalpac factory orchestrates a meticulous process wherein pre-cut recycled cardboard undergoes transformation within a purpose-built machine. This machine ingeniously bends and folds the paper into the familiar bottle shape, incorporating a plastic pouch to securely hold the beverage.
JP Grogan confidently attests that the switch to paper bottles does not compromise the essence of the wine. “Some of our customers have tested with wine, and we’ve tested with vodka. People have not been able to find the difference between our products and a product that’s been stored in a control glass bottle,” he affirmed.
