New York State Celebrates Craft Beer Excellence

New York State’s craft beer community recently celebrated its best in the ninth annual New York State Craft Beer Competition. Hosted by the New York State Brewers Association, the competition saw 1,320 beer entries from 207 breweries competing in 32 categories. The ceremony, held in Albany, New York, awarded 96 medals and the prestigious Governor’s Excelsior Craft Beer Cups.

The top honor, the Governor’s Cup, was awarded to Grimm Artisanal Ales from Brooklyn for their Grimm Weisse, which won the Wheat Beer category. This year, for the second time in the competition’s history, the “Brewery of the Year” title was shared by Grimm Artisanal Ales and Wayward Lane Brewing, based in Schoharie. Grimm Artisanal Ales has previously won the Brewery of the Year award in 2021, 2022, and 2024, while Wayward Lane Brewing claimed the honor in 2023.
