SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – The vibrant spirit of Germany came to life on Saturday at Remedy Brewing Company in downtown Sioux Falls as the annual Oktoberfest celebration unfolded.
For the seventh consecutive year, the taproom was transformed into a lively homage to Oktoberfest, complete with an array of German delights including food, music, and, of course, an impressive selection of beers.
The highlight of the event was the Bierfest, featuring over a dozen local breweries, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and community for beer enthusiasts and locals alike. Attendees had the opportunity to savor a wide variety of brews, embracing the rich traditions of German beer craftsmanship.
Adding to the excitement of the day was a homebrewing competition, where the victorious homebrewer would earn the coveted opportunity to collaborate with the talented Remedy Brewing crew, turning their brewing dreams into reality.
Remedy Co-owner Matt Hastad expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, “It’s such a blast. There is so much German heritage in this city, let alone Scandinavian heritage or northern European roots. So, gathering people together over a pint of beer, delectable food, and engaging activities is always a good time.”
The Oktoberfest festivities didn’t stop at just beer and brew-related activities. Attendees were treated to an array of traditional games, including pumpkin bowling, stein-holding contests, and the classic hammer and nails challenge.
