Macau’s growing demand for French food and beverage products is underscored by the success of recent events showcasing French gastronomy in the region. Ms. Christile Drulhe, the Consul General of France in Hong Kong & Macau, opened the event with remarks celebrating the strong presence of French cuisine in Macau’s dynamic food scene. She praised French gastronomy for its “sophistication, refinement, and diversity,” and expressed her satisfaction at the popularity of French fare among both locals and tourists.

France has become Macau’s second-largest supplier of food products and beverages, with exports totaling over MOP 2 billion (EUR 246 million) in 2024. French wines and spirits, especially those from renowned regions such as Bordeaux and Cognac, are in high demand. In addition, French cheeses, dairy products, and bakery items are also particularly sought after in the Macau market.

The celebration of French culinary culture unfolded across several venues at the Artyzen Grand Lapa, offering a rich array of French experiences. The Chinnery Ballroom was the focal point for a professional tasting session, featuring six food exhibitors and ten wine and spirits suppliers. The exhibitors, based in Hong Kong and Macau, presented a variety of French delicacies, including seafood, bakery items, fruit jams, juices, and artisanal cheeses. Several representatives from French wineries and distilleries also made the journey to Macau, showcasing their products from regions such as Bordeaux, Cognac, the Loire Valley, and Languedoc-Roussillon, offering attendees a glimpse into the diversity of French terroirs.

At Café Bela Vista, culinary influencer Betty Fung captured the attention of 50 professionals and culinary students with a fusion menu that featured toothfish fillet prepared in both Western and Asian styles, along with reimagined madeleines, a classic French pastry. As the evening progressed, Vasco Bar & Lounge opened its doors to consumers, offering wines from the South of France and concluding the evening with a toast to French savoir-faire.
