Delta Airlines has announced the launch of a comprehensive revamp of its inflight wine program, a project undertaken in collaboration with Master Sommelier Andrea Robinson.
This extensive transformation has resulted in the introduction of 17 new wines, carefully curated and incorporated into the rotational inflight menus spanning across Delta’s economy, premium economy, business, and first-class cabins.
The inception of this revamped program was marked by an extensive selection process. Delta Airlines received an overwhelming 1,700 Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for the new wine program. Subsequently, this list was meticulously narrowed down to 500 candidates in the initial round of evaluation.
Collaborating closely with Andrea Robinson and involving the invaluable input of selected Diamond Medallion members, Delta’s teams played a pivotal role in the decision-making process. Out of the 500 contenders, 200 wines progressed to the second round of evaluation.
Ultimately, 32 wines garnered “high scores” based on specific criteria encompassing factors like availability, style, growing region, wineries, and the balanced representation of varietals. These exceptional 32 wines were further assessed, culminating in the selection of the final 17 that would be incorporated into the inflight wine program.
The newly curated selection boasts an array of options to cater to passengers across various cabin classes. Notable inclusions are the Casa Saulita Chenin Chardonnay, available in Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort Plus, and the Main Cabin. Additionally, domestic first-class passengers can savor the Pebble Lane Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, enhancing their inflight experience.
Delta Airlines’ revamped inflight wine program marks a significant step in their ongoing efforts to enhance the overall travel experience for passengers, ensuring a memorable journey for all.
